Our company was originally founded to quell the frustration of our founder, Robb Heering. Back in 2003 after many years in the mortgage business, Robb (a 20 year veteran real estate attorney) founded a small mortgage company and started helping dozens of Connecticut Latino’s qualify for home mortgages. These hard working Latino’s simply wanted to buy houses. They were each told by friends and co-workers that they’d need to qualify for a mortgage before seriously searching for a home. After systematically approving their mortgage applications Robb referred his borrowers out to various realtors to start the home buying process. Almost all of these pre-approved buyers came back to complain about their realtors. The complaints ranged from “the agent is pushing me to buy something I can’t afford” to “he doesn’t speak Spanish” to “she seemed to get mad when I suggested I wanted to bring my (extended) family to see the house” to “I think he thinks he is better than me”.
Well, we had heard enough and decided to do something about it. Our founder was also a licensed real estate broker who dabbled with real estate for his own account and to assist friends and mortgage clientele. He decided to create an agency specifically for the purpose of serving his Latino clientele. Casa Latino was born. Almost immediately (within 2 weeks) after opening the first company owned agency in Connecticut, a producer from cable television network CNN en Español came calling. CNN interviewed our agents and followed one of our first-time homebuyers around the city all day long; went to his place of work (a local bodega) attended his real estate closing, and finally traveled to see his family enter their new home. The reporter from CNN mentioned that the concept of Casa Latino was fantastic, the business model was flawless, and that our mission was commendable. Robb commented that he wanted to help America’s Latino’s to achieve “el sueño Americano” and began the seemingly enormous task of reaching out to Latino’s across the USA and in their home countries.
By October of 2006, Casa Latino Franchise Corporation was given the green light to sell franchises and open offices in more than thirty states. By January 2007, the company had completed legal requirements to award franchises and open offices nationwide. Our short term corporate goal is to open hundreds of offices nationwide. We have also begun to lay the groundwork for office locations in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, and several other countries.
Our headquarters office is staffed with extremely competent, professional, and experienced bilingual executives and is located in Southbury, Connecticut. |
